The need for emergency food assistance remained at its highest levels in Erie County in 2011. Since 2006, local food pantries have assisted 134% more men, women and children in Erie County. The 2010 Hunger in America study estimated 1 out of 6 people in our region receive emergency food assistance.

 

Partnering with United Way and the Volunteer Center, The Erie County Community Foundation ran a county-wide food drive. More than 6,000 pounds of non-perishable food, toiletries and baby supplies were collected and then distributed to 11 area pantries.
