The Erie County Community Foundation is pleased to announce the completion of its Round 1, 2019 community grants cycle. Funding for these grants was made possible as the result of a major grant to the Community Foundation from the Randolph J. and Estelle M. Dorn Foundation and the generous support of many donors in the community. The Round 1 grants have resulted in $114,663 being awarded to 29 local, non-profit organizations. An additional $8,956 was awarded to 3 local non-profit organizations from its Field of Interest Funds. Grants were awarded to organizations in Berlin Heights, Huron, Kelleys Island, Margaretta, Perkins, Sandusky, and Vermilion. Many of grants were awarded to organizations that serve all of Erie County.
In the category of Youth Services, grants were awarded to:
Sandusky Churches Adopt-A-School Partnership - $ 2,500 for Back to School Rally
In the category of Social Services, grants were awarded to:
Ability Works - $5,000 for Incline Platform
Cancer Services of Erie County - $5,000 for Medication Program
Erie County CASA Program - $5,000 for Program Coordinator
Erie Metropolitan Housing Authority - $9,300 for Bayshore Tower Air Conditioning
Heartbeat of Sandusky - $1,866 for Appliance and Cutlery for Cooking Classes
Humane Society of Erie County - $1,700 for Materials for Floor Maintenance
KLS Equine Rescue, Inc. - $5,000 for Fence Replacement
OHgo - $7,800 for REACH Kid Pantry and Play Center
Safe Harbour Domestic Violence Shelter - $5,000 for Exterior Painting of Shelter
United Church Homes dba Parkvue Community - $5,000 for "Travel the World" Videoconferencing

James H. McBride Arboretum - $2,090 for Prairie Plot Information & Instructional Sign

Erie County Agricultural Society - $3,500 for LED Light Fixtures
Groton Township Fire Department - $5,000 for Rescue Trailer
City of Vermilion - $1,376 for Sherod Park Upgrade Project (Access to Recreation Fund)
City of Vermilion - $5,000 for Restroom Addition for Vermilion Port Authority
In the category of Arts and Humanities, grants were awarded to:
BGSU Foundation for Caryl Crane Theatre - $2,500 for Production Support of "CATS"
Firelands Symphony Orchestra - $6,000 for Summer Ensemble Concerts
Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council - $5,000 for Fishin' On The Bay Art Sculpture
Sandusky State Theatre - $4,032 for Wireless Microphones
In the category of Education/Schools, grants were awarded to:
Edison Local Schools - $1,500 for books for Reading Under The Lights Night
Huron City Schools - $2,756 for Upgrade Emergency Response Kits
Kelleys Island Local School District - $3,181 for Microscopes (Lake Erie Environmental Education Fund)
North Point Educational Service Center - $1,550 for Crisis Response Team Providing Emotional Support
Perkins Local Schools - $3,263 for Acoustical Shell for Music Department
Sandusky Central Catholic Schools - $3,650 for Security Camera Upgrade
The Erie County Community Foundation continues a tradition of mindful, effective grant making, addressing a variety of needs throughout Erie County. Each year, the Foundation holds two grant cycles, in which the deadline for its second grant cycle is August 1. In the 24 years since its inception, The Erie County Community Foundation has awarded more than $7.3 million to organizations in Erie County.
